On the Bottle

We have had quite an adventure this week so there have not been any new pictures up. Last Sunday night I decided that I was sure Thomas Lawrence was not getting enough to eat and sent Andrew out at 11pm to buy formula. In England, on a Sunday, all of the big stores are shut at 4 and most small ones, even gas stations, shut at 10. It took him 40 minutes to find some baby formula! :-) However, Thomas took to the bottle strait away. On the next day they midwife came to weigh Tom (he was supposed to be weighed at 4 days, but for some reason they didn't do it until 6 days) and when she did we discovered he was down to 5 lb 13 oz from and even 7 lb's! My poor baby was not getting anywhere near enough to eat and we had to go to hospital to make sure he wasn't dehydrated and get a feeding schedule that would bring him back to a healthy weight! Once at the hospital they were worried he had an infection so they poked and prodded him and took blood and then took fluid from his back and then hooked him up to an IV and told us we'd have to stay for two nights. However, after the first blood tests came back and they saw how he was feeding on the bottle, they took the IV out because they decided he didn't have an infection after all. They let us go home the next day and Tom has been getting better every day. By Friday (4 days after we went into hospital) he was back up to 6 lb 11 oz, which is almost where he should be. We are really relieved and I am enjoying bottle feeding because Andrew gets to help out out. Here are a few more pictures of Thomas Lawrence and his crazy hair!

Today's adventure

As Thomas Lawrence was almost three days old today we decided to go for a walk- he is a little small for his winter suit- his whole self fit in the middle!

Modelling the latest Calvin Klein

Wearing his 4th outfit of the day- okay maybe my first list wasn't quite long enough!

Wellington Boot has arrived!

We went into hospital for a checkup on November 26th at 1pm. But, by the time the doctor was able to see us (4 and a half hours later) the waters had broken and Wellington was on his way. Andrea was so distracted by the labour that she lost four games of rummy in a row (although Andrew was accused wrongly of cheating).
Thomas Lawrence Ashton was born at 9.54am on November 27th and arrived home on November 28th (just now). Thomas weighed in at 7lbs exactly and measured 52cm (21in) including his extra long head.

Everyone is glad to be home and ready to eat some supper, which is certainly preferable to the NHS offerings : )
